  • To register your vehicle, you will need to go to the Third Floor of the Ford County Government Center, located at Central and Gunsmoke, Monday-Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. If you are from out of state, you will need to go to the Ford County Sheriff's Office to get your vehicle inspected first.

  • To report a crime, please call 620-227-4646. If it is an emergency, please call 911. If you wish, you may come to the police department and report the crime, if it occurred within the city limits of Dodge City. If the crime occurred outside the city limits and still inside Ford County, please go to the Ford County Sheriff's Office. If the crime occured elsewhere, you will need to contact the proper jurisdiction to report it.

  • To find out why your license is suspended, you should contact the Department of Motor Vehicles in Topeka. The phone number is (785) 296-3671 and (785) 296-3613 (TTY only) or access http://www.ksrevenue.org/. Be sure to make note of the location/court and case numbers they give you.

  • If you had insurance coverage on the vehicle at the time the ticket was issued or coverage for yourself, you may bring proof of such coverage to the Court Clerk before or on your arraingment date. If you did not have insurance on the vehicle at the time the ticket was issued, you must appear in court on your arraignment date.

  • A diversion is a contract between you and the City related to the disposition of the charge(s). A diversion contract can allow you to avoid a conviction. You stipulate that the offense(s) charged did in fact occur and you promise to obey the law for twelve months. You may be required to pay fines, fees or restitution, attend classes or counseling, perform community service, or meet with a court services officer. If you comply with the terms of the diversion agreement, the charges against you will be dismissed. If you do not comply, the City may revoke your diversion and proceed with prosecution.

  • An 'expungement' removes an arrest or conviction from your criminal record. Whether you can have your conviction expunged depends upon state law. You may have the right to have your arrest and/or conviction expunged after the passage of three or five years, depending on the offense. Expungement fee is $50.00 per charge. NOTE: A DUI conviction is subject to different rules.

  • You have the right to appeal the conviction to the district court. You must file a Notice of Appeal with the Municipal Court within 14 days of your conviction. When you file your Notice of Appeal, you MUST post an appeal bond that has been set by the Judge.

  • Services can be signed up in person at the Water Counter at City Hall. Please bring photo ID, social security number, and a copy of your lease agreement or receipt from your landlord showing when you moved in (if you are renting). The cost for starting new service is $26.00, which has to be paid when you sign up. After 5:00 pm the cost for starting new service is $52.00. For locations that have had services in the past (not new construction), you can also try our online service request at the main Utility Billing page.

  • You may discontinue your service by calling the Utility Billing Department at (620) 225-8111 and talking to a customer service representative or coming into our office in person. They will ask you for your forwarding address where your final bill will be sent.

  • The delinquency fee is $40.00, which will automatically post to the account no earlier than 5:00 p.m. on the due date on the reminder. This fee must be paid plus the past due balance before the account will be reactivated.

  • Yes - contact the Utility Billing office at 225-8111 or come in to sign a Bank Account Withdrawal Authorization form. Please bring a cancelled check or deposit slip with you from the account you wish to use.

  • A backup indicates that the line is plugged or broken. The problem could be located in your service line or the city's main line. First don't run any more water in your home. Second call the Utility Division at 225-8176. They will determine if the city's line is blocked. If it is clean, you will need to hire your own plumber to clear or repair your service line.

  • Red water indicates that rust is present in the cast iron pipes and it has been disturbed. The city may have recently cleaned lines, flushed them or had a line break. If it does not clear up by running the water for a few minutes, please call the water department at 225-8176.
