The Dodge City Police Department will be hosting another Citizens Police Academy beginning September 10, 2019, and continuing until November 12, 2019. The class will meet on Tuesday evenings starting at 7:00 pm and lasting until approximately 9:00 pm each night. The class will meet one Saturday during that time to go to the firing range for weapons training.
The course will cover numerous topics including the inter-workings of the agency, gang investigations, patrol procedures, the court system, domestic violence, child abuse, DUI investigations, Use of Force, narcotics investigations, major case investigations, crime scene processing and a tour of the Ford County Detention Center and Communications Center. Instructors for the class will be Sworn Officers from the Dodge City Police Department, Ford County Sheriff’s Office, Ford County Communications, and the Ford County Attorney’s Office.
Applications are available at the Dodge City Police Department and the link below. All those who are interested will need to fill out and return the two-page application to the front window at the Dodge City Police Department by Monday, September 2nd, 2019. A brief background check will be done on all applicants. All applicants must be 18 years or older and have no felony or misdemeanor criminal convictions.
