Cavalier Field

Cavalier Restored

Cavalier Field enjoyed a long history as the field for the St. Mary of the Plains baseball team. But when the school closed in the early 90's, the field fell into a state of disrepair and was virtually unusable.

But now, through the Why Not Dodge sales tax program and the Athletic Field Maintenance staff, Cavalier has been transformed into a first class baseball facility. Cavalier was completely renovated and re-opened in 1998 with:
  • New backstop
  • Outfield fencing
  • Dugouts
  • Field lights
  • Seating

Improvement Costs

The cost of those improvements was just under $500,000 funded mostly by the Why Not Dodge tax along with a $50,000 partnership with Dodge City Community College.

Home of the Conq's & Dodge City A's

The field now serves as the home for the DCCC Conquistadors, the college summer league, Dodge City A’s and is used by local youth and adult teams and for traveling team tournaments.

Plans are currently in the works to construct a restroom / concession facility which will be completed in the first quarter of 2009. Future plans look at the addition of covered seating in the grandstand area.
