Engineering

The property owner is responsible. You can do the work yourself if you can meet the requirements of the city for insurance and have adequate knowledge and experience to replicate the driveway. |

Police
|

You can pay your parking ticket fine at Dodge City Municipal Court at 806 North Second Avenue. |

The police can do an extra patrol around your home while your are on vacation. To set this up, please call our Ford County Communications Center at 620-227-4646. |

You need to contact the Drivers License Bureau in the basement of the Village Square Mall, 2601 Central Avenue. They are closed on Mondays and open Tuesday through Friday from 7:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. |

Vehicles are inspected on Tuesday and Thursday from 12:30 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. at the Ford County Sheriff's Office, located at 507 Avenue L. |

If the ticket is from the Dodge City Police Department, you need to go to Municipal Court, located at 806 North Second Avenue, 225-8107. If it is a Kansas Highway Patrol or Ford County Sheriff's Office ticket, you need to go to the Ford County District Court, located at 101 West Spruce, 227-4608. |

To register your vehicle, you will need to go to the Third Floor of the Ford County Government Center, located at Central and Gunsmoke, Monday-Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. If you are from out of state, you will need to go to the Ford County Sheriff's Office to get your vehicle inspected first. |

To get a Kansas drivers license, you will need to go to the basement of the Village Square Mall, located at 2601 Central Avenue, 227-3944, 7:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Tuesday through Friday. |
|
|
The registered owner needs to bring a picture ID and proof of ownership (registration or title) to the police department to get a vehicle release form to take to the tow company. |
|
|
Whoever is requiring your fingerprints will supply you with a fingerprint card. Bring the card along with photo ID to the police departmart. There will be a $10.00 charge. |

To report a crime, please call 620-227-4646. If it is an emergency, please call 911. If you wish, you may come to the police department and report the crime, if it occurred within the city limits of Dodge City. If the crime occurred outside the city limits and still inside Ford County, please go to the Ford County Sheriff's Office. If the crime occured elsewhere, you will need to contact the proper jurisdiction to report it. |

Sanitation

It depends on if you have a polykart or a dumpster. Call (620) 225-8170 and tell us your address and we can tell you your scheduled day. |

No, if the limbs are placed at the curb, they will be picked up on your normal trash day. However, it will help us to schedule our workers more efficiently if you do notify us if you have additional items for pickup. |

No, you must contract with either Northern Disposal (620) 225-3371 or B&E Waste Systems (620) 225-6580. |
|
|
Have the store where you bought the item haul it away. If this is not possible, place the items at the curb. Call Public Works at 620-225-8170 to schedule the item for pickup. There is a $5.00 fee per item charge for disposal. You may also haul them to the landfill yourself. Please remove the door from the refrigerator or freezer before placing it by the curb. |

Stormwater
|
|
Not only the used motor oil can contaminate the ground water, runoff from the alley will eventually reach the river or nearby lakes and ponds and can adversely affect aquatic life. |
|
|
The soil that is carried away during a rain event ends up in the city's drainage systems and streets. Not only is this costly for the city to clean up, it can also cause our drainage system to fail. In addition, silt entering our rivers have a negative impact on aquatic life. |
|
|
The city, KDHE, or EPA may fine the individual permit holder and require all work cease until the situation is addressed. |
Streets
|
|
Report to Street Department and location will be added to the list. Owners are responsible for potholes on private property. |
|
|
Arterial, collector, emergency routes and school routes are cleaned first. Once completed, residential streets that have drifting problems are cleaned. |
|
|

The city maintains all traffic signals. Aquila maintains all other lights. |
|
|
Alleys are used by residents and the city's trash trucks. They are not maintained on a routine basis. The street department grades most alleys once or twice a year depending on the need. |
Utility Billing
|
|
Services must be signed up in person at the Water Counter at City Hall. Please bring photo ID, social security number, and a copy of your lease agreement or receipt from your landlord showing when you moved in (if you are renting). The cost for starting new service is $25.00, which has to be paid when you sign up. After 5:00 pm the cost for starting new service is $50.00. |

You may discontinue your service by calling the Utility Billing Department at (620) 225-8111 and talking to a customer service representative or coming into our office in person. They will ask you for your forwarding address where your final bill will be sent. |
|
|
The City of Dodge City accepts Visa and Mastercard at the Water Counter and by telephone. Call 620-225-8111 to make credit card payments. |
|
|
The delinquency fee is $35.00, which will automatically post to the account no earlier than 5:00 p.m. on the due date on the reminder. This fee must be paid plus the past due balance before the account will be reactivated. |

Yes - contact the Utility Billing office at 225-8111 or come in to sign a Bank Account Withdrawal Authorization form. Please bring a cancelled check or deposit slip with you from the account you wish to use. |

Yes! Please e-mail barbs@dodgecity.org with your service address and account number and request e-notification for your utility account. You will still continue to receive a postcard bill as well. |
Water
|

The Utilities Division can locate these for you. Call 225-8176 to schedule a locate. |
|
|
If the leaks occurs between the meter and your home/business, it is your responsibility to fix it. Otherwise notify the Utility Division at 225-8176 so that the leak can be fixed. |
|
|
Call the Utility Division at 225-8176. They will schedule a time to come to your site and check for leaks. |
|
|
A backup indicates that the line is plugged or broken. The problem could be located in your service line or the city's main line. First don't run any more water in your home. Second call the Utility Division at 225-8176. They will determine if the city's line is blocked. If it is clean, you will need to hire your own plumber to clear or repair your service line. |

Red water indicates that rust is present in the cast iron pipes and it has been disturbed. The city may have recently cleaned lines, flushed them or had a line break. If it does not clear up by running the water for a few minutes, please call the water department at 225-8176. |
